Horseracing at Goodwood was started by the third Duke of Richmond in 1802.
Goodwood continues to stage twenty two days of the finest racing in the sporting calendar featuring Glorious Goodwood, a five day Festival featuring top class racing and one of the highlights of Britain's social and sporting calendar.
Tops must not be removed in any of the Enclosures. There is a dress code in the Richmond Enclosure.

Richmond
- Tickets: £27 (N.B. This Enclosure is only open to Members during “Glorious Goodwood”).
- Food and Drink: There is the Charlton Hunt Restaurant offering a four course meal and afternoon tea for £66.85 with views over the course. The Double Trigger Restaurant serves seafood. The Horsewalk Carvery offers more informal meals from the carvery and there are numerous bar and snack facilities. The Double Trigger is a no-smoking restaurant.
- Viewing: The March Grandstand in front of the winning post and the Charlton Stands are situated in the Richmond Enclosure and there is access to the Winners Enclosure and Parade Ring. A giant screen showing a close up view of all the action is installed by the winning post at all meetings and by the paddock during “Glorious Goodwood”.
- Dress: Gentlemen are required to wear jackets and ties, cravats or polo necks. Jeans and shorts are not permitted. Stiletto heels are not recommended due to the terrain and decking in some areas.
- Tickets: £19 (Glorious Goodwood £30/£33)
- Food & Drink: During “Glorious Goodwood”, the tented Gordon Restaurant is open offering a three course choice meal and full bar facilities. Reservations are advisable (Tel 01243 755123). There is fast food available including Goodwood Organic sausages and burgers, and full bar facilities.
- Viewing: The main Enclosure at Goodwood with access to the Sussex Grandstand and the Paddock area which includes the Parade Ring and Winners’ Enclosure. A giant screen showing a close up view of all the action is installed by the winning post.
- Tickets: £9- £15 (Glorious Goodwood £14-£17)
- Food & Drink: There is a variety of hot and cold snacks available in the Lennox Enclosure including hot dogs, hamburgers, and chips. There are also full bar facilities available. In this Enclosure racegoers may bring their picnics with soft drinks but not alcoholic beverages.
- Viewing: Offers extensive viewing of the home straight as the horses gallop towards the Winning Post. At “Glorious Goodwood”, racegoers get a close up view of all the action on a giant screen in the Enclosure.
- Champagne Giveaway
Buy four day badges for the Richmond Enclosure, in advance, for one of Goodwood's non-Festival racedays at the special price of £125 and collect a bottle of champagne and four racecards on the day. This package must be booked at least 7 days before the meeting.
- Online booking discount
Available for Gordon Enclosure tickets booked at least 14 days before the meeting.
£4 discount - For all non-festival meetings.
- Group Discounts
Glorious Goodwood: There are discounts for groups of 10+, 20+ and 40+ in the Gordon Enclosure and for groups of 20+ and 40+ in the Lennox Enclosure.
There are advance booking discounts, dependant on the day, available on Glorious Goodwood & Gordon Enclosure tickets if booked before 1 May 2008.
- OAP Discounts
Those over 65 are entitled to concessions on certain days in the Lennox Enclosure. However, these are only available on the day at the East Entrance turnstiles. On Thursday May 8, over 65s are also offered half price Gordon Enclosure admission (£9.50) and receive a free racecard and refreshments vouchers when playing at the East Entrance.
- Student Discounts
Entitled to 50% off (on production of valid NUS) in the Gordon Enclosure. Please use the East entrance to purchase your ticket. This offer is not valid for Glorious Goodwood.
- Annual Membership
Includes entry into the Richmond Enclosure during Glorious Goodwood and allows you to purchase up to six daily badges per day. You can also take advantage of Guest Days and free entry to 28 other well-known racecourses as well as Sussex County Cricket Club, Hickstead and Cowdray Park Polo Club (on a limited number of occasions). - Children
When accompanied by an adult, children under 17 enter for free. Please note, children under 5 are not permitted in the Richmond Enclosure at Glorious Goodwood.
- Betting
There are Tote and bookmaking facilities across the course.
- Parking
There is free parking available however a number of car parks do have charges and need to be booked in advance.
- Disabled
There are extensive disabled facilities including parking, toilets, lifts, ramps, dedicated viewing areas and lowered counters for access to food, drink and the Tote facilities.
