We believe in looking after you in the proper manner and we go to great lengths to make you, the race goers feel welcome during our National Hunt season from October to May.

This beautiful racecourse is situated in the picturesque Scottish Borders surrounded by charming countryside and rolling hills. The course is steeped in history and tradition. Opened in 1822 the original building is still the centre of activity on a race day, with coal fires blazing during the cold winter months, it maintains a unique charm that has welcomed race goers for over a century.

We provide a diverse selection of facilities ranging from private boxes that can host 50 people for a full three course lunch, or simply a delicious hot beef sandwich accompanied by a cup of tea in our bistro- to us “hospitality” is not just a word it is key to your enjoyment.

The course itself runs left- handed over a series of 9 solid steeple chase fences, with a long punishing uphill run-in, that coincidently has a similar “elbow” to that of the final furlong of the Grand National. Our demanding course attracts many of the top trainers from November to March, who use it as trials for the championship meetings of Cheltenham and Aintree.

  The Members Bar is a cosy area serving hot drinks and snacks. Rosie’s Bistro offers a wide range of good value meals and snacks. The Pavilion Marquee is open between March and December and offers 2 types of All Inclusive packages which include reserved tables for the afternoons racing. Prices start at £48 per head. the Seafood, Game and Champagne bar is open at nearly meeting and serves a delicious menu and range of wine and champagne.   The Charity Tea Room is open at every meeting and is run by a different charity each race meeting. Entry into the Tea Room ranges from £4 - £6. Soup, sandwiches, Cakes, Tray Bakes, Tea and Coffee are usually served.

  From the Members Grandstand there are views over the Winning Post and the Parade Ring. The Members Enclosure allows access to all other areas and facilities of the course.

  A quick self-service outlet is provided in the Tweedie Stand offering a wide variety of choices. There is also a fast food mobile unit next to the bookmakers pitches.   This is from the Tweedie stand where there is standing and seating facilities both in and outdoor. There is access to the Parade Ring and Winner’s Enclosure.

Directions to Kelso racecourse using Google Maps Your postcode By Car The course in one mile North of Kelso on the B6461 Ednam Road. Kelso is off the A698 by the A68 and A7 from Edingurgh and the A699 from the West. Directions from Galasheils (Approx 18 miles) Exit Galashiels heading South on the A7. After 1 mile take the forst exit on the roundabout onto the A6091. After 4.8 miles take the second exit on the roundabout, onto the A68. After 2.3 miles, turn left onto Main Street. Continue on B6404. After 5.8 miles, turn right onto B6397. After 2.4 miles, turn right on to A6089. At the next roundabout, take the first exit. After 0.4 miles turn left. Directions form Edinburgh (Approx 45 miles) From the Sheriff hall roundabout on the city bypass, take the A68. After 12.6 miles, take the first exit off the roundabout onto the A697. After 7.7 miles turn right onto the A6089. After 12 miles take the first exit for, the roundabout. After 0.4 miles turn left.   Directions from Berwick Upon Tweed (Approx 24 miles) From the A1, take the A698. After 12.4 miles take the second exit on the roundabout onto the A697. After 3 miles,branch left back onto the A698. After 7 miles take the third exit off the roundabout, onto the A6089. After 1 mile, turn right.   Directions from Newcastle (Approx 69 miles) From the A1, take the A696. After 29.8 miles, turn right onto the A68. After 25.4 miles, turn right onto the A698. After 9.5 miles, take the second exit off the roundabout onto the A6089. After one mile turn Right.   By Train The nearest train station is Berwick-on- Tweed and is 22 miles form the course.   By Bus There is a limited bus service to the course leaving Berwick upon tweed rail station every other hour.   There is a lively market in the betting ring and a new Tote building overlooks the Parade Ring.

  Kelso is unusual in that it also hosts a Sunday market and boasts a golf course in the centre.
