Thirsk is one of Yorkshire's most beautiful country courses, sitting between the North Yorkshire Moors and the Dales with easy access by road, rail or air.

Flat racing takes place from April to September, and with excellent facilities and a friendly atmosphere, Thirsk offers country racing at its best.

Ready for a busy summer at Thirsk?

The Thirsk and Hambleton area of North Yorkshire has been synonymous with the sport of Racing for over three centuries and Thirsk is a thriving, popular racecourse which stages 14 days this year on the Flat between April and September.

Although racing took place in the Hambleton region as long ago as 1612, it was in 1855 that the first meeting was staged on the present site, on land owned by Squire Frederick Bell - over 150 years ago.

The founder of Lord's Cricket Ground in London, probably the most famous cricket venue in the world, Thomas Lord once again has a race named in his honour to commemorate his birth in Thirsk in 1755.

Club

• Viewing: The Winning Post is directly opposite the enclosure. All facilities can be reached from the Club enclosure including the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure.

Paddock

• Food & Drink: Bars and fast food outlets offer a variety of drinks and Snacks.
  
• Viewing: From the main Grandstand there are good views of the track. It is possible to access the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure.

• Food & Drink: The Family Enclosure also offers fully stocked bars and snacks.
  
• Viewing: Next to the main Grandstand it is the furthest enclosure from the Winners Post however there is a stand to view from.

  We have 14 days racing during 2009 and 32 exchange dates at racecourses throughout the country, plus free days at Yorkshire County Cricket. In addition, there are a number of hotels and restaurants in the area who give a members a discount.
